Susquehanna Union Green awarded Community Funding

Vartan Group, Inc. announced an award of $2.5 million via Pennsylvania’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) toward dedicated community space at Susquehanna Union Green.

These funds will allow for the highest and best use of the open spaces planned for the community. Comprised of over 19 acres, the open spaces establish Susquehanna Union Green as a true town center for Susquehanna Township. Through the Commonwealth’s investment, residents and visitors of Susquehanna Township and Dauphin County will have a new space to gather and recreate year round.

These features will include space for outdoor music and entertainment, grounds for a farmer’s market, a winter village with ice skating rink, greenspaces for community events and fairs, and pedestrian walkways that enhance access to businesses and other natural features.

“The investment by PA in Susquehanna Union Green will leave an indelible mark on our community’s future,” said H. Ralph Vartan, Chief Executive Officer of the Vartan Group, developer of the project. “These public spaces will be a magnet for our area’s families and children and a focal point for our community for generations to come.”

Vartan added, “We are extremely grateful for the leadership and support of the Commonwealth of PA, specifically that of Senator John DiSanto and President Pro Tempore Jake Corman. Without their unyielding commitment to improving the quality of life for our friends and neighbors, this vision would not have been fully recognized.”

“The unique space that will be created here and the partnership offered by the team at Vartan with both Dauphin County and Susquehanna Township will be a true asset to the people of Dauphin County and the region,” said Mike Pries, Chairman of the Dauphin County Board of Commissioners. “Susquehanna Union Green will be an attraction in Dauphin County for decades to come bringing not only recreational spaces, market opportunities, and jobs, but also providing for a place to create lasting memories with friends and family.”
