Union Green awarded state funding for Union Green Park
Susquehanna Union Green has been awarded state funding to develop Union Green Park.

Black Run Park was one of 1,186 new project approvals through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s LSA Statewide Program. The program provides funding for projects that improve the quality of life in the community.
“I’m proud to support programs and projects that reflect the diverse needs of our incredible community,” said State Rep. Justin Fleming, who helped to secure the award. “Our neighbors of all ages deserve a space to play, learn, and feel safe and supported in. This grant funding does that by turning local priorities into real, measurable progress.”
Union Green Park is a 2.5-acre green space in the geographic center of Susquehanna Union Green. The park will provide the community with year-round passive recreation space.
“Not long ago, our area was designated as underserved and well below state averages when it comes to access to parks, trails, and outdoor recreation space,” said H. Ralph Vartan, Chief Executive Officer of Vartan Group, Inc., the project developer. “Thanks to projects like this and with the help of all our community development partners, that is quickly changing.”
